THE DEATH OF THE CROCODILE HUNTER.

This is already one big news story that just keeps growing.

Steve Irwin (better known as The Crocodile Hunter to millions on TV) was hit in the chest by a stingray and killed while making a documentary in the waters off of Australia. Unbelievable, and yet hardly shocking at the same time. The man did deal with some very dangerous animals, and was constantly putting his life at risk.

Already I'm reading some truly mean comments from certain people that say he once put the life of his baby in danger while feeding a croc, and that all he did was intrude on natural environments. Come on people! Give the dead man a break! He loved animals and was only trying to expose them to the world for conservation purposes. He sure was a little nutty, but obviously loved what he did, and died doing it apparently.

I feel so bad for his wife and two kids. She especially, must be devastated.

So R.I.P. mate.

A short but extraordinary life indeed.

Oh Krikey! I loved Steve Irwin when his show first came out. Yeah, he was a bit of a lunatic, but he really had a passion for animals and nature and just wanted to bring that to the masses. This is one sad loss that made me gasp when I saw the headline. Rest in peace old chap....

this saddens me. I used to watch his show often. It was funny, informative, and I liked his personality. I think his job was dangerous and that was it. I mean, some jobs are dangerous and others are not. his was and he died because of it. and it is sad, but, as mentioned, he died doing what appeared to be a great passion for him. In a way, I envy him. And don't him he was crazy, not in the literal sense.

I agree, people say the most ignorant things. Saying he was a reckless idiot, he really wasnt. HE knew exactly what he was doing and this was a freak accident.
I am so bummed about this because he did alot of great things in his life. He helped turn alot of bad attitudes about animals and how we need to help the enviroment now more than ever.
He died doing what he loved best and alot of us will miss this guy, he was nuts but so lovable!
