"WHEN YOU TRY YOUR BEST BUT YOU DON'T SUCCEED..."

Well. I've been to four major concerts this year so far, and what should've been a really great show Monday night turned out to be barely decent! I still love Coldplay, but...

They strictly prohibited cameras/flash photography, yet tons of people still snuck in their devices in and snapped away! ARGH! I should've had my escort hide the camera up his ass or something, but we were stupid in being honest. I could've gotten some pretty cool shots, although most of the time I got to look at the group members and their backs/asses. Maybe not such a bad angle after all! Some pics of the event by our local newspaper here. Anyway, the massive black drape behind the stage obstructed my view of Will Champion (who is the drummer), for most of the show. This had me very bummed, as I thought the stage would not be blocked and open for all to see regardless. On top of having a somewhat blocked view of the stage and not having a camera, the show started at 9:30p.m. and ended just 90 minutes later! 90 MINUTES?! WAHAT?! With four studio albums, you mean to tell me there isn't enough material there to do a whole 2-hour show at least?! The Forum as a venue needs to be demolished. It's so old and worn down. You can see it in the walls for Christ's sake and it's not in a very nice part of town anyway. UGH! Out of four stars, the Coldplay show gets two and a half my friends. I'm sure those with amazing seats and awesome pics thought differently. The band played well, but so many things didn't go as I expected, so yes, I am bummed. Reviews of the show are here.

Sorry to have put some of you through the horror of that suicide clip in my last post, but I laughed out loud at your reactions to it; those of you who thought you could handle it but almost fainted like I did. I seriously did laugh hysterically, but fear not! The devastating mental image goes away in about one or two days. LOLOLOL! I did warn ye did I not? I know one must try to be as optimistic and positive a person, but this blog can sometimes be a bit depressing or too realistic perhaps for some to handle. Life just isn't always rosy folks.

But stay cool, smile, and enjoy
la vida it for all it's worth! Here's hoping our banking system doesn't collapse a la 1929!

Coldplay want to be as big as U2 I don't think they will be though, while I think 'Yellow' is one of the most beutiful songs of all time, I find their more recent work repetive and dull. Sorry you didn't enjoy the gig more.

LOL I would post on my blog, but there are only so many crickets that can be there.

Anyhowzit, WAT is right... the forum needs to be razed and burned to the ground (along with the rst of Inglewood) I know Margaret Gray would definately agree with me, she would never let her Jason J.Delmanico step foot in that part of town.

The Coldplay concert was disappointing. The show began at 7:30pm with two openers. A Techno/Trance DJ for 30 min followed by another band who was forgettable. Then there was a whole hour intermission where nothing went on. When the band did take the stage it was rather... well... let say just listed to you MP3's, CD, abd Music DVDs. Coldplay live is not worth the hassle.
I love there music, but the venue, the local area, and the tech problems left me sad. I had and adorable time with my escort... and the main highlight of the trip was listening to Phil Henry on the way back.....

I'm sorry your experience wasn't as great as you wanted it to be. What a bummer.

Sorry it was a bummer show. At least it sounds like they started on time.

WOW! I am sorry to hear the concert was sub par. They have tons of material, why only 90 minutes?

Yes, the banking mess. Our Mortgage is through IndyMac. So we will see what happens. Most likely we will simply change the name on the pat to line. Crazy times we are living in.

Enjoy your day. 8-)

Concerts are funny things-- luck of the draw, don;t you think? we never know what's up with each band member, how they feel, and it's their job to do the best they can, sometimes ...blah... is the best they can do.
I used to hate to drive through Inglewood (back when I lived in Lynwood (me and Weird Al!) I often had to.) it could be a scary drive back then. Guess it hasn't changed for the better. Mary Fleener did a cool comic about Inglewood a long time ago--about visiting her grandmother there and shopping there.

I don't know what venue coldplay was in but maybe that contributed to the bummer concert. I gave up mega concerts years ago when I went to see clapton (who I adore) and it was like watching a flea on stage!

the best person to see is neil young - the guy doesn't stop!!

gotta run....company's here..... more 8r....something in the mail to you...hope it gets there saturday - if not then it will be there monday!

This sounds like my experience seeing Stevie Nicks about 700 years ago, black curtain and all.

About life...you are right. It isn't always rosy and you do a pretty good job of bringing both the joy and the sorrows. Keep it up!

Oh, and where exactly were you going to hide the camera...

Yeah Mouse - the last great concert I was at was Neil Young and Crazy Horse in the Point Theater in Dublin. He does not stop alright!

I met the guys from Coldplay once and they seemed so strungout I was turned off. But then again that goes with the territory.

Ugh, I don't like Coldplay. Not because they're not great musicians, because I acknowledge that they are, but because every single person I know who loves Coldplay obssess about them to me. This guy once tried to force me to listen to every album of theirs while I was slightly intoxicated. Fun times, regardless.

Anyways, sucks about the concert. Here's hoping the next one turns out better.

Oh, and that video, yeah, I'm not watching it.
