FOREVER IMMORTAL ON FILM.

And so the Oscar nominations were announced, and the list is one of quiet restraint it seems, since the stars and all this time around are very low key kind of performers, which makes for a very interesting and more competitive ceremony. THAT IS, IF THERE EVEN IS A CEREMONY! With the annoying writer's strike, one can only imagine what will happen to the Academy Awards, but to have them cancelled like the Golden Globes were would really suck, although in the grand scheme of things of course, all this shit is trivial right?

Trivial, because here we are yet again, mourning the death of yet another young promising good-looking actor. Last week I was saddened by Brad Renfro's passing, and now I gotta mourn Heath Ledger too? Oh Christ. "Not Heath! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" That was my initial reaction when I got a cell phone text message about the terrible news, which I thought at first was some sort of cruel hoax. Such a fine handsome Australian young lad he was, and what a shame. I genuinely enjoyed him and his films, most especially his now legendary turn as Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain opposite the red hot gorgeous Jakey G. A sad movie, just got SADDER! Oh how awful, how truly awful! He leaves behind a baby daughter and legions of fans, and a still yet unreleased Batman film where he plays the Joker. And so it goes; one just never knows when the journey we're on will suddenly end.

Tributes to Heathcliff Andrew Ledger. A short but lovely life:

I was trying to see if you were around but when I heard about it, it was very late as I was sleeping late. I just thought this is one of the most shocking and depressing things to hear!!! I was having a good time online and laughing and joking it up as a character named Yoko Ono, when I read the news on rockys rubber room.

Man I just can't believe it, and he's younger than I even knew!!

Isn't it ironic that in the movie Brokeback Mountain its Jake who dies, but in reality its HEATH???

Heath was always a pet favorite of mine, especially early on, I assume his death is accidental, but who knows at this point, and I can just imagine how shocked and heartbroken Michelle "dawson's crack" Williams is!! I know they were on the outs but this is crazy.

I have watched a little bit of celeb reaction and everyones shocked. This is so wrong!!

Putrefication hits the golden boy too soon, and its such a WASTE!! Did you know he's actually only one year younger than my baby sister Belle, and I held Belle in my arms as a baby?!?! Im like her second mom.

I find this a devastating blow.

Sometimes whiney is good.
Interesting Oscar nominations, but I was impressed with the selection of more thoughtful, well-crafted works. Depp was a bit of a surprise, but deserving.
I wonder how the new Batman movie will play now?

I was so shocked by this crazy news! So sad to leave behind a baby, and an incredible career, and i still thought he and Jen Lindley would get back together. Sigh. Very sad indeed. Makes me want to rent Brokeback again.

I was truly shocked by the news, much more than I was by Brad Renfro who seemed to be on a troubled road.

This one has really affected me and I am not sure why it has. Maybe because it was so unexpected and maybe because I really liked the guy.

Thanks for the post. I'll have to check out the links you provided.

This news shocked me and broke my heart a little. A tremendous talent gone. And yet Britney, Paris and Lindsey just keep going...and going...and going...

Not that I wish anyone dead, just to clarify. But I guess it's really true that only the good die young.

He seemed so humble and understated, that's what was so sexy about him, and why his death feels so devastating to so many.

Celebrity deaths don't normally affect me to much, but i felt very sad when I heard about Heath.

Very Upsetting-- I saw Brokeback several times then bought the DVD-- It was just such an epic film, a real love story,

what a tragic accident.

in light of this sad news, this barrymore quote came to mind: "The good die young - because they see it's no use living if you've got to be good"

sad. sad. thanks for the links.

What killed Heath? The writer's strike!
Yes, cause of the Strike this actor was out of work. Nothing for him to do, and so Heath has become a cuasualty of the writer's strike!

have you got any idea what it was actually killed the guy?

i bet either some drug not among those sleeping pills or the old "inhaling the vomit" scenario...

¡QUE LÁSTIMA!

I normally don't give a sh*t about celebrities but Ledger and his fine co-star put gay issues on the map with their extraordinary performance in Brokeback Mountain.

Ledger will be missed.
