ELVIS IS ROLLING OVER IN HIS GRAVE.

I'm so hating my job right now. I wish the supervisor over my main one would just drop dead to be honest. I just paid my mortgage, car registration, and cell phone bill online and over the phone. There's more stuff to be paid this month including my auto insurance, the cable bill, and property taxes. They must think I shit money or something; is there any more you'd like to siphon out of me you greedy f*cking pricks?! The fact that respected and well-known entertainers/athletes can make so much money at one gig is depressing to me, when compared to most of us mere mortals and our measly salaries.

Speaking of well-known entertainers, Mariah SCAREY has just broken Elvis' record of 17 number one hit singles! She is now the solo artist with the most #1's on the Billboard 100, the still reigning female with the most number ones, and second now only to The Beatles for most top singles. She may just tie or break their record with her new CD. A rundown of what's going on here in case you're interested:

Artists with the most number one singles ever in the U.S.A.

The Beatles (20)
Mariah Carey (18)
Elvis Presley (17)
Michael Jackson (13)
Madonna (12)
The Supremes (12)
------------------------Whitney Houston (11)
------------------------Janet Jackson (10)
------------------------Stevie Wonder (10)
------------------------Bee Gees (9)
------------------------Elton John (9)

Yeah, all pretty damn amazing people there, but I dunno how Mariah holds up to be honest. I've mentioned before; her body of work is just not that memorable and often forgettable. She was quoted as saying:

“I really can never put myself in the category of people who have not only revolutionized music but also changed the world,” Carey told The Associated Press on Tuesday via phone from London. “That’s a completely different era and time ... I’m just feeling really happy and grateful.”

Um, okay Mariah.

Fear not ye Madonna fans, 'cause she's just broken a record also, held by Elvis as well! Her new mediocre track "4 Minutes" sung with "Hawk Nose" Timberlake becomes her 37th top 10 hit beating Elvis' previous record of 36 top tens. And the song itself is at #3 on the Billboard 100. Will Mariah keep Madge from the top spot; Madonna hasn't had a #1 hit since 2000's "Music" and she badly wants another one to make it lucky 13.

All this Billboard chart talk has made me weary. Discuss.

Well...I hate both Madonna AND Mariah. I am shocked either of them made it past a first album! Good thing I'm not in A&R, I guess. LOL.

By the way, I think if Mariah breaks The Beatles' record, you should have to sleep with my sister or something. ;-)

Ummmmm...that was from Darci, by the way. Not anonymous.

Gee, I couldn't even name a Mariah Carey song --the Oscar Meyer Weiner song could have been a hit if reworked for "serious radio play" great hit songs and great hit song singers depends on the audience.

it would be very sad if mariah carey broke the beatles' record
they are legends and geniuses
she doesnt even write her own music
shouldnt count!

Yeah. Mariah Scarey.... her music is just well, my ears cannot hear in that vocal range. Her stuff is utter nonsense. The latest song "Touch my Body" I saw played on MTV was a joke. She was just talking to her cable guy?

What's next Mariah "Mmm I am eating my sandwich... chewing the food. I wonder what should I drink?". Wow I even have more talent than her writers. Plus I doubt people ae buying her music. I bet she buys most of her CD's.

Yeah life is depressing, I can understand that money situation.

Sleep with Mandy? lol....lol... gee
I know that would break many a man's heart here and probably would kill one sad and lonely little dog.

It is kind of strange that I can't possibly name a single Mariah song but I can name many, many Beatles songs. Her hits come and go quickly and in a few more years, she'll probably be totally forgotten as well as her music.
Yes, bills, bills and more bills. Seems like I just paid all my bills and here they are again...

Mariah "backfat" Carey can suck my dick.

I am glad you plugged the queen, it is surprising to me, however, that she hasn't had a #1 hit since MUSIC. I guess she hasn't in America now that I think of it.

Don't even get me started on monthly bills. It is really stressing me out these past few months...expenses are higher than ever, and my income is decreasing. Very scarey indeed.

I have said it over and over again for the dozen years or more that the age of great musical artists being popular is over.

Every so often we get a couple of meaningful interesting artists who start to make headway in a new musical movement then they die out almost as quickly as came on the scene.

Tomorrow will mark the day music died for me. The original grunge movement orgasmed in a fury of guitar distortion and angsty lyrics then plunged like so many many heroin syringes. Kurt Cobain will have been dead for 14 years on April 5th. Every time I hear something from Nirvana I have to wonder what American Idol would really look like if he was still alive.

Where would music be now If we hadn't also lost Stevie Ray Vaughn, Sid Vicious, Jim Croce, John Bonham, Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Buddy Holly, and the list goes on...

Today popular music is about being popular not about making great music. If you can stay active with a big label behind you for long enough you will eventually break a few record, of course no one is going to remember what was on your records as soon as the next person releases theirs.

Well, any post that features Madge is a good post as far as I am concerned, so thanks for that and for the info on the billboard chart. I just saw a clip on iTunes of the new video and I can't get over how different Madonna looks these day - absolutely fabulous but not like herself. Plastic surgery really does more than make a person look younger.

Now, about the bills... I will pass along a bit of advice from my mom. Back in the early days of their marriage my mom and dad were having trouble keeping up with the bills and my dad told my mom to throw the ones they couldn't pay into the fireplace. And she did. Afterwards she felt immensely better. She knew they still needed to get paid and would come again but for the moment she was relieved. Therefore I say to you - into the shredder with them.

Mariah is talented, but I just don't think of her as better than Elvis or Madonna, I mean REALLY, come on.

Here's to hoping Madge pulls out a #1 hit

Mariah is crazy which means she's always entertaining, which means I love her. Her music I stopped loving after Honey.

Oooh, I have a Justin story for you. I worked as a bartender/shot girl at Roxy's in Orlando. Mr. JT used to come into the club all the time and would fall in love with a different girl every time. He hit on everything, but it wasn't in the douchebag kind of way, it was kind of in the obsessive, annoying way. Like, he's the type of guy that actually does fall in love with you until you have sex with him and then he's moved on. I never went there, he's just not that hot to me, but the stories my friends have told are hilarious.
