THE "CRASH" OF "BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN."

Okay. I almost had a heart attack, but I'll be fine...

The Academy Awards are over, and Crash just pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Oscar history by winning the Best Picture of the year! Yeah, I’m horrified to say the least.

The gays in America are probably dropping like flies at this very moment and the homophobe folk are having a field day I'm sure. Hey, nothing to be ashamed about kids, Brokeback Mountain took home some big awards and will be remembered and stay in people’s hearts long after tonight’s Best Picture winner’s excitement dies down.

It’s only an awards show anyway. Well, to some of us:

I didn't watch the show but just checked the results. I was appalled. Although I liked Crash, I don't think it deserved being nominated for best picture (as well as good night... and capote; what an awful selection of best movies except for BB mountain). And I believe BB mountain was much more deserving and not because I am gay; I truly think it is a better film.

And, again, I did like Crash but it is awful that it won best screenplay considering that "the squid and the whale" and "match point" are so well writen and 10 times better (at least).

You will be pleased to know WAT, that I have gone and seen Brokeback Mountain and found it quite an interesting and powerful movie. But I can't really see why it's supposedly so controversial. I mean, there was ONE sex scene that lasted all of 10 minutes, you see no WANG at any stage of the flim, and after the initial Brokeback Mountain scenes, it turns more or less into a romantic film about relationships. So why are peoples nickers in a tiff?

Furthermore, its pretty disgusting how all of a sudden Hollywood are so keen to prove just how pro-gay they are. I think poor Brokeback, a good movie in its own right, was burdened with too much Hollywood Hype Machine...

I think you know that I really LOVED Crash and was happy that it won. I haven't seen Brokeback yet, almost for the same reason I haven't seen Capote now...Just too much hype.

I was really pumped that "It's Hard Our Here for a Pimp" got best song. I loved Hustle and Flow. I was pretty happy that Reese got it for Walk the Line too. I loved that movie.

I remember a few years ago when a movie I really dug didn't get any awards and was up for them all---you end up having so much thought and emotion wrapped up in that movie, that it's hard not to feel let down and take it personally.

You know it's hard out her fo a piiiimp.....

"Munich", "Good Night & Good Luck", or "Capote" could've gotten Best Picture. I'm almost certain those were far better pictures...But CRASH??!! We'll just have to agree that I cannot agree with you G-Man my brotha. And this pimp here saw BOTH competing films (Trash and Bareback Mtn.), so I definitely have a firm opinion.
